Global Development Alliance

What is it?            Why is it important?        How to get more information?
This is a private, unofficial site intended to provide information on a new international development initiative -- the Global Development Alliance (GDA).  This initiative was announced on May 8, 2001, by USAID Administrator Andrew Natsios in testimony before the Senate Appropriations Sub-Committee on Foreign Operations  (Administrator Natsios' testimony).

There is a serious intellectual debate underway about the potential benefit or harm that will eventually come from globalization.  The Global Development Alliance and the types of programs supported by USAID must take into account the issues raised and the conclusions derived from this debate.  This website presents the various aspects of globalization and discusses issues related to international development in the 21st century.  It also explores ways to leverage the impact of citizens seeking to address social, environmental and political problems.

USAID controls an annual budget of US$3.4 billion which in resources how USAID should implement its programs in the future.  That debate focuses on the changing circumstances in the Developing World as more and more barriers to trade and financial investments are brought down. The purpose of this site is to: 1) provide information on issues related to Global Development Alliance
